Lots of people just don’t ‘get’ Twitter. They don’t understand this simple “what are you doing” status update thing.
To be honest it never really made a lot of sense to me until my daughter asked what paint stripping I was doing – (my updates get posted to Facebook).
But that’s not the point to this post!
Twitter is one huge pipe of comment going on, and there are services that monitor anything said and let us know about things that interest us.
I’ve just demonstrated the power of being connected to this stream of comment.
Over the weekend we signed up for a service we’re really keen to use, but the login page won’t work for us.
This afternoon I posted on Twitter for the company to contact me because I couldn’t get in to the application.
Within a couple of hours somebody from half way around the world sent me a note on Twitter asking me what help I needed.
This is fantastic for the company concerned – it gets to watch everything being said and respond much more quickly than would otherwise be the case.
Also fantastic for us – we don’t have to fill in support requests. We just post less than 140 characters and wait for the response.
