Why I Love Posterous

by stevensreeves on August 27, 2009

Sometimes a new toy comes along and just captivates our thinking – there’s something about it we just can’t leave alone.

I’ve never really been one for puzzles – they don’t amuse me. Things that do clever stuff really easily are my particular bag.

The latest thing to grab me is Posterous, the ultimate in tools for posting and distributing content.

To me this is close to perfection,  in capability without complexity.  It’ll do just about anything and we can learn how to use even the very clever stuff in a few minutes.

The service manages to achieve this because the guys who designed it understood it wasn’t software. Sure they use software to provide the service, but they don’t provide software.

People who provide software always make it complex – some sort of ego trip for the builders trying to prove they’re cleverer than the users.

People who provide services know they’re cleverer than others, and put that intelligence to working in making a service people will use.

This is the principle that drives our business, and it’s so nice to see somebody else being successful through doing the same thing.
